Arriving in Thailand!

It's been a while since I've written anything on here, and I apologize to all of my, if any, readers! Haven't really been bored enough to actually write anything on here, but guess what, tonight, I am as bored as with all my other blogs, so it's a good time to kill some... time. Trine is in France, and my Diablo 2 partner is having a Harry Potter marathon before watching the pre-premiere of the newest one, so there is next to nothing for me to do that will keep me entertained for more than 5 minutes! Let's see how long my attention span will last doing this. At least a lot have actually happened so I should be able to actually write something remotely interesting this time.

A few weeks ago I got vacation from my work, my boss even moved her vacation to another week, just so I could get my two weeks in a row, she is quite something, thank you for that! So I packed my bag (which was really Trine's dad's bag, that I had borrowed), went home to her, up next day to get to the airport, board the big 747, and off to Thailand we were! We got a really nice plane meal actually, after which we went to sleep, probably a few hours after it, but we had to get some sleep to avoid jetlag, which we had, pretty much all week. Got woken by the most cheerful flight attendant ever, with a big grin and a "GOOD MORNING!" Very harsh way to get pulled out of sleep, but another good meal, breakfast, made up for it! We arrived in Bangkok airport 6 am, local time, found our suitcases and went to look for our chauffeur to get us to our hotel. We must have looked puzzled because one of the helpers came to us and offered his assistance, which we gladly accepted! So after a few calls, we found our "limosine" driver! Hooray!

Outside the airport, and wow! What an intense heat, and very moist, really had to get used to that air, we didn't though, 'cept for evening, it was always a shock to walk out of the AC'ed rooms and hotels. Everyone was very helpful, never letting us carry our own bags, greeting us everytime, always smiling, they are a lovely people! We got ourselves into the car, and enjoyed the much more comfortable temperature it had, but that was about the only enjoyable thing from this ride! First shock, they drive in the "wrong" side of the road, hadn't seen that coming, but no biggie. However, there seemed to be one, and only one, rule; get to where-ever you're going as fast as humanly possible! The traffic, it was chaos! Very quickly we decided that the best thing to do was to not look out the windows, but you can't help it, there's so much to see, and not seeing the near misses, just made us nervous all the time, instead of... Well, all the time! We were litterally fearing for our lives, I know I was! Every single time we went driving, we got scared! No gap was small enough not to try an' take advantage of it, and emergency lane? They sure had one, filled up with cars overtaking, I don't think I ever saw an emergency veichle the whole trip! They were most likely stuck somewhere in this city's mix of old sheds, and top-modern skyscrapers!

We check in to our hotel, get our room, again someone else carries our bag, we wanted to tip him but we didn't really have any cash ready or low enough, 1000 bath would have been overdoing it! He didn't seem to be expecting anything, and there's a 10% tip or so in the rent anyway, and on everything you buy in the hotel, such as dinner, which was okay, but had a lot of oddities in it, not always the best of surprises! But mostly, the food was exellent, no matter where and what, Trine had some foul tasting ones now and then, though. She was a bit more adventurous than me about the food. Sidetrack, but I'll talk about food again later, I'm pretty sure of. We both wanted to go out and explore the area outside the hotel, but we didn't get 5 steps, before some very enthusiastic man wanted to help us with everything we didn't really care about, he was VERY hard to get rid of, don't ever engage in conversation with strangers, just smile and say "No!" He even offered us to drive us to Koh Chang, since "you can't fly there" - you can't really drive to an island either, and not one that's 1 hour of flight away! When we were finally able to get him to leave us alone, we discovered that the street was very unlike anything we'd ever seen! There was food stands all over, and it didn't all smell to inviting, we skipped the lot, and decided to be local and buy food from 7-11. We went back to our room, not getting "caught" by the "helpful" person outside our hotel, and went to our room which had a nice view over the... roof tops and backs of buildings. We decided to call it a day and went to bed.

- And I will do the same for now, good night friendly folks! Don't let the bed bugs, that lived in the hay we once used to make beds of, bite!
